Edinburgh Council Consultation on Surcharge to Residents Parking Permits for Diesel Vehicles – CLOSING SOON

The above online consultation is closing at the end of Sunday 28 January 2018.

Although this was posted on the NTBCC website in late October which can be viewed here , given other matters, it has not been discussed at length at the community council.

Edinburgh  City Council (Transport & Environment Committee)  is currently consulting  on a proposal to apply a £40 surcharge on parking permits issued to owners of diesel vehicles, and have been  seeking views through an online  survey, which is available on the Council’s Consultation Hub at https://consultationhub.edinburgh.gov.uk/sfc/parking-permit-diesel-surcharge .

Whilst NTBCC fully accept the need for initiatives to tackle poor air quality in the city centre and surrounding areas, overall support for this standalone initiative appears to be mixed. We believe that there are other, more effective steps that could be taken to improve air quality and the initiatives should be more wide-ranging.

We would encourage as many people as possible to respond to this consultation – it is simple and takes 5 – 10 minutes.
