The following post is adapted from an email received from City of Edinburgh Council regarding the ongoing consultation about the visitor levy.
We are writing to invite residents to fill out our consultation on a Visitor Levy for Edinburgh, which is now open until Sunday 15 December at edinburgh.gov.uk/visitorlevy.
We are planning to introduce a visitor levy on paid, overnight stays in the city. We have written a draft scheme using feedback from visitors, residents and businesses. Now we’re seeking your views to help shape the final version, which will be in place from July 2026.
We have also arranged a drop-in event which is open to the public at Waverley Station on Thursday 14 November between 15.00 and 19.00.
