In the meantime, here’s a preview / précis of discussion topics. ….
Key discussion items are firstly, the concerns & actions taken to date by residents’ groups & NTBCC to the recent ‘Communal Bin Review’ proposals which were approved by the Council’s Transport & Environment Committee without prior notification or engagement to remove the option of the gull-proof bag / individual recycling box service for many New Town residents – replacing them with extended on-street communal bin hubs.
The other significant discussion items covers the 2 key Council consultations currently open – one on the proposed ‘City Centre’ Low Emission Zone (closes 20 September) & the second on the Council’s outline ‘2030 Climate Strategy’ (closes on 12 September). These consultations can be accessed here https://consultationhub.edinburgh.gov.uk
As well as the LEZ, Transport discussions also cover the recently-completed ‘Spaces for people’ scheme on the Broughton Street – Canonmills corridor – as some may be aware, a decision to retain elements of the scheme & remove other parts was taken by the Council but the precise details and timings were unclear.
Planning covers an update on current applications, including the forthcoming Committee hearing on the development at the bottom of Dundas Street (108 – 114 & 116) and revised plans for the New Town Quarter (Plot 1).
Licensing will cover any recent applications that may be of interest.
Finally – a brief update on the stakeholder ‘Public Space Management Plan’ Work Group & Sub-group discussions.
