WEST PRINCES STREET GARDENS – THE QUAICH PROJECT – Joint Position Agreed

The New Town and Broughton Community Council has worked with The Cockburn Association along with the Old Town Community Council, West End Community Council and Tollcross Community Council to agree a joint statement on the Ross Development Trust's 'The Quaich Project' proposal in West Princes Street Gardens.

The four Community Councils and the Cockburn support the improvement of specific park facilities in keeping with the use of the gardens as a quiet space for enjoyment and relaxation, and in scale with the layout of the site. We do not support the transformation of the Gardens into a commercial entertainment venue, involving access restriction and noise pollution disturbance.

The case for the demolition of the existing Ross Bandstand still needs to be made.  The lack of any business plan or indication of scale and number of events and activities is a significant gap.

The full Joint Statement can be found here.
