(adapted from an email from SGN)
Here is an update on our ongoing project in the Raeburn Place area.
Our work is progressing well, and I want to make you aware of our plans to excavate within St Bernard’s Row, Edinburgh.
Due to the size of excavation required, we need to close the road which means there will be no access in or out of the St Bernard’s Row entrance to Veitch Court. It will not be possible for any vehicles to pass our work site and as such no vehicular traffic will gain either access or egress via the St Bernard’s Row entrance to Veitch’s Court.
Pedestrian access to Veitch Court location will always continue to be available.
This operation is scheduled to start 18 August 2020 and last for approximately 4 weeks. This includes all reinstatement of the original cobbled roadway.
We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from the coronavirus. Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus
We’re writing to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.
We would like to thank you for the support and understanding we’ve received so far whilst carrying out complex engineering work to upgrade our gas network.
Kind regards
Caroline Lawrie, Stakeholder and Community Manager
