The remit of this NTBCC (created in January 2023) matches that of the Edinburgh Council committee it shadows:
Cultural development, festivals and events, Sport and Recreation, Arts and Museums, Libraries and Community Centres, Parks and Green Spaces, Police and Fire scrutiny, 20 Minute neighbourhoods, Community safety, Community and Locality planning, Community Councils, Community empowerment, Community asset transfers
NTBCC ‘culture and communities’ actions before now include:
- responding to ‘Edinburgh’s thriving green spaces’ consultation
- sending a deputation on ‘Use of Public Spaces in Edinburgh for Events and Filming’ to Edinburgh Council Culture & Communities Committee
- objecting to The FLY music festival
- sharing invitations to apply to Lord Provost’s Platinum Jubilee Street Party Fund 2022
- making a final submission to the ‘Use of Public Spaces in Edinburgh for Events and Filming’ Consultation
- sending a deputation on ‘Amplification of Sound in Public Spaces’ to a CEC full council meeting
- welcoming Dr Max Coleman of RBGE and the NTBCC Natural Environment Group
- responding to a proposal to remove/replant trees in King George V park
